Kristi Ottis, MS, LPC, NCC

Assisting individuals and families to live happier, healthier, more fulfilling lives is a passion of mine. Oftentimes, we do not recognize our own potential, strength, or inner wisdom (intuition). It is my passion to be that mirror reflecting back to you the truth of who you are, guiding you toward a life filled with purpose, connection, and joy. I provide a supportive environment conducive to insight, healing, personal growth, and self-empowerment. You will also experience a safe and nurturing space where you feel seen, heard, and understood.
My specialty areas include anxiety disorders, grief and loss, spirituality (spiritual exploration, spiritually transformative experiences or STE, spiritual awakening, and/or crisis), self-esteem, assertiveness training, emotional/verbal/sexual abuse, working with empaths, life transitions, stress management, self-care, and depression. I have been providing individual counseling services for children, adolescents, and adults as well as family therapy since 2005. Are you an Empath? Take my Empath Quiz to find out!
The evidence-based practices and therapeutic approaches I primarily utilize in helping my clients are Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Transpersonal Psychology (a focus on spirituality as part of a mind, body, and spirit approach), Strengths-Based Therapy, Somatic (Mind-body healing techniques) and Mindfulness-based strategies. Additional techniques, skills, and approaches are also used when they would be most effective for helping a client achieve their desired outcome. I look forward to working with you and your family to achieve your counseling goals.
I received my Bachelor's degree in Psychology from Texas A&M University and my Master's degree in Counseling from the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), a National Certified Counselor (NCC), a Certified Grief Recovery Specialist, and a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP).
My professional memberships include the American Counseling Association, the Texas Counseling Association, and the Association for Spiritual, Ethical, and Religious Values in Counseling (ASERVIC). I have had the opportunity to gain clinical experience in a variety of settings including community mental health, an inpatient psychiatric hospital, and private practice.

My self-help book, Healing After Sexual Assault: 12 Steps to Reclaim the Power, Purpose, and Joy In Your Life is a guide for healing, empowerment, and transformation. Drawing from my personal journey as a sexual assault survivor and my professional background as a licensed mental health professional, I combine my story with a practical 12-step roadmap, offering evidence-based practices and spiritual tools to help survivors reconnect with themselves and rediscover purpose and joy after sexual trauma.
A candid account of my self-discovery, transformation, and spiritual awakening following sexual assault at age 20 is coupled with practical, spiritual, and holistic strategies to compassionately guide survivors through recovery. All of my experiences taught me to reclaim my voice, reconnect with myself and my intuition, and to transform all of the pain into a higher purpose of helping others. That led to greater healing, happiness and overall health and wellbeing. In Healing After Sexual Assault: 12 Steps to Reclaim the Power, Purpose, and Joy In Your Life, I offer this same gift of healing and personal transformation to anyone struggling to recover from sexual assault by joining me on this journey.

Over the past 19 years, I’ve felt privileged and honored as my clients have vulnerably shared with me their personal stories of pain, heartbreak, and strength, inviting me into a part of their life’s story. I believe one of my life’s purposes has been to aid in the healing, empowerment, and transformation of as many people as possible. To further work toward that goal, I am in the early stages of writing my first book: Healing After Sexual Assault: 12 Steps to Reclaim the Power, Purpose, and Joy In Your Life. All of my clients, past and present, are a huge inspiration for me to also share my story, to speak my truth.
My greatest hope in writing this book is for people to know that healing from trauma of sexual assault and grief as well as the ability to thrive in all areas of their lives after it is truly possible. Healing After Sexual Assault offers the specific steps, exercises, and tools to make that a reality for them too!
