Kristi Ottis, MS, LPC, NCC

Picture
Assisting individuals and families to live happier, healthier, more fulfilling lives is a passion of mine. Oftentimes, we do not recognize our own potential, strength, or inner wisdom (intuition). It is my passion to be that mirror reflecting back to you the truth of who you are, guiding you toward a life filled with purpose, connection, and joy. I provide a supportive environment conducive to insight, healing, personal growth, and self-empowerment.  You will also experience a safe and nurturing space where you feel seen, heard, and understood.

Areas of Expertise

My specialty areas include anxiety disorders, grief and loss, spirituality (spiritual exploration, spiritually transformative experiences or STEs, spiritual awakening, and spiritual emergency or crisis), trauma (emotional/verbal/sexual abuse, accidents, etc.), self-esteem, assertiveness training, working with empaths, life transitions, stress management, self-care, and depression. I have been providing individual counseling services for children, adolescents, and adults, as well as family therapy, since 2005. Are you an Empath? Take my Empath Quiz to find out!

I have experienced many types of spiritually transformative experiences (STEs), including spontaneous spiritual awakenings, inspired creativity, intuitive/psychic openings, kundalini/spiritual energy awakening, and visitations and communications from loved ones in spirit also known as after-death communications (ADCs). I also have a deep understanding of near-death experiences (NDEs) and similar consciousness-expanding events.  These types of experiences can be life-altering, beautiful, and even confusing or isolating—especially if they are unexpected, difficult to talk about, and if you don’t have someone who truly understands what you’re going through.

Since I’ve personally lived through numerous transpersonal/spiritual experiences and professionally studied these powerful, paradigm-shifting events, I can offer clinical insight, compassionate support, and intuitive wisdom to help you gain clarity, empowerment, and peace. Whether you're navigating an existential shift, questioning your spiritual/religious path, awakening to intuitive/psychic abilities, or feeling called to deeper purpose and connection, I'm here to walk alongside you. My goal is to help you make meaning of your experiences and integrate them into your life in a way that honors your unique beliefs and enhances your overall well-being.

Therapy Approach

The evidence-based practices and therapeutic approaches I primarily utilize in helping my clients are Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Transpersonal Psychology (focus on the mind, body, and spirit or soul), Strengths-Based Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Somatic (Mind-body healing techniques), and Mindfulness-based strategies. Additional techniques, skills, and approaches are also used when they are most effective for helping a client achieve their desired outcome. I look forward to working with you and your family to achieve your counseling goals.

Education, License, and Professional Credentials

I received my Bachelor's degree in Psychology from Texas A&M University and my Master's degree in Counseling from the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), a National Certified Counselor (NCC), a Certified Grief Recovery Method Specialist, and a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP). I am also EMDR trained.

Additionally,
I've been approved by the International Association for Near-Death Studies (IANDS) as a licensed Mental Health Professional qualified to support individuals who have had a near-death experience (NDE) or related transpersonal experience.

Professional Memberships & Clinical Experience

My professional memberships include the American Counseling Association, the Texas Counseling Association, and the Association for Spiritual, Ethical, and Religious Values in Counseling (ASERVIC). I have had the opportunity to gain clinical experience in a variety of settings, including community mental health, an inpatient psychiatric hospital, and private practice.
